Device for preventing uncontrolled movement with integrated parachute brake

The patent device AMICo 100 prevents the uncontrolled movement of the cabin away from the floor, both downhill and uphill.
In the event of uncontrolled movement, the device intervenes by blocking the cabin by means of the parachute lock with progressive hold inserted inside a sturdy metal structure that is fixed to the arch through 4 screws.
This device is therefore the solution that is totally decisive against any type of uncontrolled movement that can be caused, for example, in electrical systems, even by slipping of the ropes on the winch’s drive pulley.
It is therefore the best solution for all the cases provided for by the UNI 10411-1, 10411-2, 10411-3, 10411-4, 10411-5, 10411-6.

How AMICo 100 works

Figure 1.1 shows the version of the device with side coupling bar and mounting above the arch, in the drawing it is possible to identify a pin (A) moved by a magnet (B), the pin-magnet mechanism is constrained to the support bracket by the fixing system (C) rotating in the vertical plane.
When the elevator reaches the floor, the magnet (B) is de-energized allowing the springs in the pin-magnet mechanism to expand.
This expansion causes the pin (A) to escape into a slot on the bracket (L).
The bracket (L) must be firmly fixed to the guides at each stop.
If there are uncontrolled movements of the cabin, for example downwards, the uncontrolled movement itself will at first reach the lower part of the slot on the bracket at the pin.
Subsequently, the descending mechanism of the cabin will cause the rotation of the pin-magnet mechanism.
This rotation, by means of the damped tie rod (E), will therefore determine the activation of the parachute lock thus stopping the cabin on the guides.
The cabin will be stopped on the guides even in the event of uncontrolled uphill movements, since the parachute lock is two-way.

Simple monitoring thanks to micro switches

The micro switches with positive contact opening (according to EN 60947-5-1, annex K, paragraph 2) directly control the two extreme positions of the pin (A).
The contacts are normally closed (NC) and are connected in series to the contacts of the landing doors on the safety chain, in such a way as to allow or not to allow the operation of the lift.
These micro switches – if properly connected to the control panel and / or to an auxiliary device – allow the system monitoring function to be carried out as required by the standard.
Therefore, the AMICo 100 device does not require an uncontrolled motion detector.

The AMICo 100 certified device in the PC 11 GA (P + Q = 1500 kg) – PC 13 GA (P + Q = 2600 kg) and PC 24 GA (P + Q = 5498 kg) versions with integrated parachute brake meets the requirements that are required by Directive 2014/33 / EU and by EN 81-20: 2014 and EN 81-50: 2014.
This device can also be used to recreate safety spaces for systems according to EN 81-21: 2018 or EN 81-21: 2012.
